REBLOG (12-30-21)   There is the #Mi'kmaq #Blackbird   The International Year of Indigenous Languages is a United Nations observance in 2019 that aims to raise awareness of the consequences of the endangerment of Indigenous languages across the world, with an aim to establish a link between language, development, peace, and reconciliation. To bring awareness to this important cause students at Allison Bernard Memorial High School in Eskasoni, Cape Breton recorded Paul McCartney's Blackbird in their native Mi'kmaq language. SUNSET SKY SHOW: When the sun goes down tonight, step outside and look west. Venus and Jupiter are shining brightly in the twilight sky, converging for a close encounter less than one week from now. Jim Peacock sends this picture from Red Cliff, Wisconsin:

"I was happy that our evening sky over Lake Superior was clear for viewing the two planets!" says Peacock. "The wind off the frozen Great Lake was brisk, yet worth it to see Venus and Jupiter get cozy."
